Reposition the cam theres a small arrow on top of wheel at front to help you orientate it. Push the cam backwards to disengage it. Replace the motor in its original position and twist it to lock back into brackets. Optical sensor for Autotrol logix 740 or 760 in my experience, this very hard to find is one of the most frequently defective parts a softener valve control.
Clip the new sensor in where old one was. The whole procedure should take less than 5 minutes. Replace the electronic controller, connect power, set time and then cover. Pop out the old optical sensor squeeze feet together from front.
Unplug the cable from old sensor and plug it carefully into new one should slide in easily, if there is any resistance of pins connector may be a little bent. Un clip the top of electronic controller and let it hang forwards. Instructions to replace the part: remove cover from your softener and disconnect power. Why replace the motor assembly and all cables for 40 or more when you only need one small part a quarter of that. If your softener cam turns constantly there is an error code displayed on controller screen, this may be cause.
Twist the motor to unlock it from its brackets and slide out of back.
